A strong commitment – sorbion AG is now an A sponsor of the EWMA
May 01, 2010:An international company specialising in wound management has an obligation to promote research and development in the field. In line with this principle, sorbion AG will become an A sponsor of the EWMA (European Wound Management Association) for the first time in 2010. The EWMA plays a pioneering role in the promotion of new developments in wound care. Hubertus Ruthmann, Marketing Director of sorbion AG, said, ‘As one of the main drivers of innovation in modern wound management, our company is interested in ensuring the provision of high quality wound management solutions. We therefore have a great deal in common with the EWMA in terms of its goals and the issues it is concerned with. We have been a B sponsor of the association since 2007 and have now stepped up our commitment so that we can provide an even greater level of support.’
The European Wound Management Association is an umbrella organisation that includes all 45 national organisations. Its work and the goals of sorbion AG are very similar in many respects. Like the EWMA, sorbion also has a considerable interest in the promotion of research and development. The EWMA regularly publishes new research results on wound management and tries to raise awareness of the main problem areas among influential figures from the fields of politics and medicine. As Hubertus Ruthmann points out, ‘The EWMA provides a way to network and combine knowledge and skills. Everyone involved in wound management benefits – researchers, the industry and particularly the patients. This is something that individual companies or institutions would not be able to achieve on their own and that’s why it is very important to us that we work together with the EWMA.’
Participating in global knowledge transfer of the latest scientific developments in wound management is absolutely essential for sorbion. The EWMA provides the ideal framework for this and its annual congress is one of the top international events in the wound management calendar. At this year’s congress in Geneva from 26-28 May 2010, representatives from research, the industry and clinicians will present and discuss new developments in the field. According to Hubertus Ruthmann, ‘This conference is an ideal platform for sorbion to present its latest products. Furthermore, there will be a symposium during which influential and globally renowned specialists will present the most recent results they have obtained with sorbion products.’
The development of innovative product solutions for patient-oriented wound management is of high priority for sorbion AG. As Ruthmann summarises, ‘The EWMA has great value in terms of networking and exchange of knowledge in the field of modern wound management. The company’s commitment to the EWMA as an A sponsor is not only a great opportunity, but also a duty, and one which we are happy to fulfil’.
