sorbion sachet S – the power that wounds need. Brand new version available from August.
June 17, 2010:We are extremely pleased and proud to present our latest product developments at the convention of the German society for wound healing and wound care in Freiburg.
Helping the body to help itself. Supporting long-term management of chronic wounds and giving patients back some quality of life. These were the ideas that led to the foundation of our company in Ostbevern in the German state of Westphalia more than ten years ago. We have achieved a huge amount since then, and sorbion AG has long since shed its image as a start-up company. Our company is now active internationally, and its activities in what is a complex area can be summed up perfectly by the following: innovative product solutions for patient-oriented wound care.
In mid-May, the company relocated its place of business to Senden in the Münster region. ‘As one of the drivers of innovation in modern wound management, sorbion AG is committed to promoting a high level of quality in wound care. This means undertaking continuous research and further development of our products. To do this, we require highly qualified employees, and they need a proper space in which to work,’ says CEO Andre Riesinger about the latest company expansion. ‘Choosing Senden as the company’s German location was an extremely popular move. After all, our roots are in the Münster region. The majority of our employees come from the surrounding region, and Senden has excellent infrastructure,’ explains Riesinger about the company’s strategic decision.
sorbion is extremely pleased and proud to present its latest product developments at this year’s convention of the Deutschen Gesellschaft für Wundheilung in Freiburg. The expanded product range and refinements to highly successful tried-and-tested products are characterised by their use of optimised design options and the application of new manufacturing techniques. ‘Our current optimisation measures have meant that we have been able to overcome the material and technical limitations we have experienced in the past. This enables us to offer our customers and patients products that are optimally tailored to their needs,’ says Dr Alexander Maassen, head of research and development at sorbion AG.
One example of this is the sorbion sachet S, a product which has enjoyed great success for a number of years. This product has undergone major modifications and is proof of the company’s commitment to implementing important optimisation measures. The new sorbion sachet S has a patented inner core, manufactured in accordance with the highest quality standards. As before, it is free of glues and adhesives. The use of well-known materials, coupled with an optimised manufacturing process, has led to improved clinical performance parameters. This is evident not only in its considerably higher absorption capacity but also in the optimised way that the product deals with wound exudates. ‘The absorption kinetics of the new sorbion sachet S exhibit performance characteristics which we have never seen before from any other product. This holds true even under varying test conditions, including differing pH values, temperature, viscosity and salt or electrolyte content´, says Dr Maassen.
Hydration Response Technology forms the basis for the design concept behind the sorbion sachet S wound dressing. As Dr Maassen explains, ‘Flexibility and absorption kinetics are essentially determined by the design characteristics of the product. This involves ensuring that the various parameters work perfectly together, including the way the product expands, the way the dressing is positioned and proportions and surface ratios, as well as a multitude of other parameters. It is never one single component which determines the functionality of a product, but the interplay of all the components within the overall concept.’
According to CEO Andre Riesinger, further product developments from sorbion include the world’s first adhesive wound dressing with Hydration Response Technology, also available in the form of special sacral and heel wound dressings. ‘We are really pleased about this successful development, as it is a significant step forward, not only for users and patients but also for sorbion AG as a company. Our expanded range of products and the new company location, coupled with the fact that we have now overcome our previous manufacturing limitations, mean that sorbion is even more stable and solid than ever before,’ adds Andre Riesinger.
The convention of the Deutschen Gesellschaft für Wundheilung is one of the most important wound conferences in Germany and offers wound care experts, doctors, manufacturers of medical products and patients a platform to discuss innovations, new inventions and international developments. ‘We look forward to critical and in-depth dialogue with visitors to our trade fair stand. Given that we are a manufacturer of medical products, this is particularly important because we need to provide patients with access to products which improve their lives. If the dressing materials industry doesn’t do this, then who will?’ says Ms Birgit Riesinger, member of the management board at sorbion AG, who is responsible for innovation, patent applications and idea contribution.
